Name: Deutsche Turnverein
Commentary:Deutsche Turnverein. Prague German Gymnastic Society founded in 1862, officially on 28th February of that year. Prager Morgenpost 19/2/1863 reported that the Society would be celebrating the anniversary with a festival, which would have included the performance of music. Later in 1863 the same newspaper recorded on 4/11/1863 that 40 members of the society were to establish a choir and that at the last annual general meeting 30 new members had been admitted, apparently ‘proof of the upturn’ [ein Beweis für den Aufschwung] in the society.
