Tagesbote aus Böhmen 20/5/1857 published details of the Archduke Franz Karl [brother to the Emperor Franz Josef] travelling to Prague on 18th May, and his welcoming on the arrival of the Royal Train. The source noted: ‘At 8pm on the day before last His Serene Royal Highness the Archduke Franz Karl arrived here on a private train from Vienna, and was received reverently in the Station by His Excellency the Governor Baron von Mecséry and Royal generals. The musical ensemble, which in the Station was combined with a guard of honour of the Infantry Regiment of the Archduke Ernst, played the national anthem on the arrival of His Royal Highness. The high guest proceeded by a waiting Court carriage to the Imperial Castle, and is there to stay a few days on a visit to His Majester the Emperor Ferdinand.’
