Národní listy 11/3/1863 published news that ‘Přerhof’s Beseda, which due to unforeseen circumstances could not take place today, is postponed until Saturday 14th March. The other three humoristic besedas are scheduled on Wednesdays 18th March, 8th and 15th April.’
On 5/4/1863 Národní listy reported that ‘Přerhof’s third humoristic beseda takes place on Wednesday 8th April in Konvikt [Hall]. Commencing at 7 o’clock.’ The event was then rescheduled until 15/4/1863, Národní listy 8/4/1863 reporting ‘Přerhof’s humor. beseda, which was to have taken place today, has due to unforeseen circumstances been postponed until next Wednesday 15th April. This, as well as the final beseda, will be combined with a dance entertainment.’
More specific details of this event appeared in Národní listy 15/4/1863. A brief report noted: ‘Beseda. Programme to today’s humoristic beseda of Přerhof: Part I: 1. Choru. Humoristic reading (new). 3. Češka. Soung by Škraup; sung Miss Emanuela Míšková. 4. Concerto for violin, performed Mr Tomášek. 5. Minka a včely [Minka and the bees]. Song by F. Laub: sung Mr Vecko. 6. „Je to pravda, nebo ne?“ [Is that true, or not?] Declamation (new); performed Přerhof. 7. Chorus. Part II. Dance entertainment. (Musical ensemble of Mr Janák).’
The performance by Janák’s ensemble of dance music during the secon part of the beseda may indicate that the concerto performance was not simply accompanied at the piano. The violinist identified as ‘Tomášek’ was most likely Theodore Tomášek, at this time a violinist in the Provisional Theatre orchestra and an occasional soloist in public concerts.
