Prager Morgenpost 28/10/1863 published news of the arrival back in Prague of the Emperor Ferdinand following his annual summer sojourn at his country retreat at Ploškovice. The source reported: ‘His Majesty the Emperor Ferdinand arrives at Bubeneč Station on 27th at 11am in a private royal train [Separathofzuge] from Ploschkowitz [Ploškovice] and was welcomed by the High Civil- and Military-Authorities. From the reception His Majesty was escorted by an honorary company of the Infantry Regiment of the Prince of Prussia with music and colours [Fahne - banners, flags]. At 12.15pm His Majesty arrived in the Imperial Castle on Hradschin [Hradčany]. Yesterday evening at 8 o’clock for the Festival of the Arrival of His Majesty, all of the military music ensembles garrisoned in Prague performed a musical Serenade with a torchlight procession in the first courtyard of the Imperial Castle on Hradschin.’ The ‘Infantry Regiment of the Prince of Prussia [des Infanterie-Regimentes Prinz von Preußen]’ almost certainly referred to the ensemble of the Royal Infantry Regiment of King Wilhelm I of Prussian, which was then stationed and active in Prague.
