• Orchestra of the Prague Sokol Gymnastic Society: participating orchestra

Národní listy 2/1/1863 reported in its section of daily news that the ‘Committee of the Civic Society [Měšťanská beseda] arranges again for its members during this year’s Carnival three entertainments in the [locality of the] Civic Society, specifically on 12th, 20th and 27th January. Playing will be the orchestra of Sokol. The musical trial takes places on 5th January, also at the Society [venue]. Preparations for the trial are already being assiduously executed.’ On 18/1/1863 the newspaper reported ‘In the Civic Society [Měšťanská beseda] takes place on Tuesday 20th of this month a dance entertainment. Commencing at 7.30pm.’ A day later, Národní listy 19/1/1863 published a notice from the Committee of the Měšťanská beseda announcing: ‘In the Civic Society [Měšťanská beseda] will take place on 20th and 27th January dance entertainments [taneční zábavy]. Both commencing at 7.30. The Committee respectfully require that gentlemen members bring with them their admission tickets.’

The German-language Prague newspaper Politik published a public notice from the Committee of the Civic Society noting: ‘Civic Society [Bürger-Ressource]. Will on 20th and 27th January be holding Dance Reunions [Tanz-Reunionen]. Commencing 7.30pm. The Committee request that gentlemen members bring their admission tickets with them.’
