Henri Vieuxtemps

Vieuxtemps, Henri (1820-1881). Belgian violinist and composer. Child prodigy and violin pupil of Bériot. Travelled extensively in Europe and America as a virtuoso, visiting Prague several times. Professor of violin at St Petersberg Conservatoire 1846-52. Retired in 1873 after suffering a stroke.
