Prager Morgenpost 2/11/1862 reported in its column of daily news: ‘Liedertafel. On the evening of 4 November at 8pm the Prague Men’s Singing Society [Prager Männergesangverein] have arranged in the Hall of the Žofín Island a Liedertafel. For this an interesting programme is contrived.The material needs [‘Den materiellen Bedürnissen’ - i.e. food and drink] of singers and guests will be met by a new host. Also a better service is promised.’ The report thus intimated that provisions made and the service provided at previous Liedertafel events given by the society were not satisfactory.
Bohemia 2/11/1862 also published news of this event, reporting: ‘The Men’s Singing Society [Männergesangverein] arranges on 4 November at 8pm in the Žofín Island Hall a Liedertafel, the programme of which is as follows...’ After providing an outline of the programme the source noted that the attendance of the event benefit from a new host [restauranteur] having been appointed to the Žofín Island. The Tagesprogramm published by Bohemia 4/11/1862 listed this event as ‘8pm. In the Žofín Island Hall: Liedertafel of the Men’s Singing Society.’
