Bohemia 13/11/1862 reported that ‘the Czech Provisional-National Theatre [Das böhm. Interims-Nationaltheater]’ was to open next Sunday with a performance of Hálek’s tragedy Vukašin. The price of tickets was announced, noting that boxes in the stalls and on the first row [i.e. first row above the stalls level] cost 5fl, in the second row 4fl, a seat in the stalls 1fl, a seat in the gallery first row 80kr, in the second and third rows 60kr, a standing place in the stalls 60kr, on the first gallery 40kr, on the last [gallery] 20kr. Subscriptions could be purchased for boxes at the stalls level and first row 250fl, in the second row 200fl, seats in the stalls 40fl, on the first gallery in the first row 30fl and in the second row 25fl. Standing places at the rear of the stalls for 25fl. No further details were given by this report of the opening event at the theatre.
A brief review and report about the opening of the Czech Provisional Theatre [das böhmischer Interimstheater], signed with three stars arranged in the form of a triangle, was published in news dated 18 November that was pubished in Prager Zeitung 19/11/1862. The correspondent related that on Saturday [15 November] a committee of 15 members inspected the theatre in order to check that is had been completed to their satisfaction. ‘The opening performance today begins with a Prologue followed by a performance of a Festive Overture [Festouverture] by Wojaček [Vojáček], member of the Imperial Theatre in St Petersburg, after which the tragedy „König Vukašin“ will be given its first performance. The first opera, which has been arranged for the day after tomorrow for performance in the new theatre is Cherubini’s „Wasserträger [Les deux journées - given in Czech as Vodař]“’. No further details were given by this issue of Prager Zeitung.
An unsigned report of this event was published by Dalibor 20/11/1862 noting the ‘Provisional Czech Theatre was opened on Tuesday 18th November with Hálek’s tragedy „König Vukašín“. Mr Šimanovský performed a Prologue by J. Jáhn, after which followed the Festive Overture [Slavnostní ouvertura] by H. Vojáček, member of the Imperial Court Theatre in Petrograd. Hálek and the leading players participating in the tragedy were [curtain-]called. The festival opening of the Provisional Theatre opera „Vodář“ of Cherubini is today.
