Identical articles Národní listy and Čas 4/12/1861 both reported identical basic programme details for this event, including the participating soloists. These texts noted that Mr Přerhof performed as the third item of the programme a ‘humorous reading’; fifth item a declamation by F. Tuma entitled ‘Nehoda [Misfortune]’; tenth number [a declamation] “Improvisator” (on request); final number an untitled declamation.
The unsigned Národní listy 5/12/1861 review did not comment at all about the musical content of the occasion, relating only that the ‘Second humorous little garland of Mr Přerhof in the Konvikt Hall was quite satisfactory. We most appreciate of the arranger, that he ensured that the declamatory part was quiet new and that the numorous society was well-entertained. When Mr Přerhof becomes accustomed to giving all declamations from memory... [rather than reading them,] which renders them valueless, then we can look forward to Přerhof’s entertainments not only being genuine entertainments but also as greatly interesting instances of how Czech social life in Prague develops. Mr Tuma’s ingenious declamation “Nehoda” was a great favourite, and we wish that the next humorous garlands would comprise such pearls. The attendance was numerous and the entertainment effortless.’
