Commentary:

The Dalibor 10/5/1860 report included no details of the works given, instead emphasizing with a degree of sarcasm the novelty of the Conservatory’s decision to perform works in Czech: ‘Tempora mutantur! On Sunday, pupils of the Conservatory performed... Czech sacred choruses. The Czech Conservatory, in which, however, the Czech language is not taught, has after forty years progressed so far that pupils can now at least sing in church in their mother-tongue. It is indeed a snail’s step, but we trust that the institute will now get better!’
