Commentary:

An advertisement was published by Mercy’s Anzeiger 13/3/1857 announcing: ‘In Lederer’s Beer Hall (Tuchmachergasse Nr.1186-2) will be today to celebrate the safe return of Their Royal Majesties to Vienna [Feier der Allerhöchsten glücklichen Rückkunst]’ a Friendly-Festival [Freuden-Fest] including performances of song and music, and to which is sincerely invited the Singing-Prince of Ispahan.’ The Vergnügungsanzeiger of this issue of the newspaper noted simply: ‘Today Friday... Lederer’s Beer Hall: Friendly-festival [Freudenfest].’ No further details were given by these sources. Most likely the event also included the participation of a popular ensemble of musicians.
