Commentary:

An advertisement was published by Mercy’s Anzeiger 10/1/1857 for this series of seven dance-reunions [Tanz-Reunionen] given throughout the 1857 Carnival season and in which was to perform the ensemble of the Royal Infantry Regiment of Archduke Ernst. Unusually for a public dance event during the busy Carnival season, the source announced ‘Damen werden geladen [Ladies will be charged].’ Admission tickets for gentlemen could be obtaind from the art and music shop of Christoph and Kuhé, from the coffee seller ‘Kalifornien’ at 430-1 Michaelsgasse [Michelská ulice], and in the evenings from the box office [at the venue]. Ladies admission tickets were obtainable from the lessee of the Apollo Hall at his residence [beim Pächter in seiner Wohnung], on Sundays on the Island itself, and on weekdays from the coffee seller ‘Kalifornien’. The text also noted in larger typeface that ‘The Hall will be heated’, and was undersigned by ‘Rückauf, lessee of the Schützeninsel [Střelecký ostrov / Shooters Island].’
