Mercy’s Anzeiger 1/7/1854 published news that on Saturday 2nd July there would take place on the Köppel Island a Festival in which a host of balloons would be released. ‘The balloons will be filled with water-gas [Wassertoffgas - Hydrogen], this operation taking place before the eyes of the public; in the evening the Island will be illuminated with coloured flower-balloons [durch farbige Blumenballons erleuchtet. For the execution of music Mr Schäde and his acclaimed ensemble have been firmly engaged.’

The Vergnügungsanzeiger of Mercy’s Anzeiger 2/7/1854 announced that ‘Today Sunday... on Köppel’s Island [a] great Air-balloon Festival and Music [by] the First Prague Civil Musical Ensemble under Mr Schäde’s direction’. No further details were given by the source.
