Commentary:

Der Tagesbote 2/11/1854 and Mercy’s Anzeiger 2/11/1854 reported the date and venue of this event and listed the works to be performed. The key of the Veni Sancte, the Mass and of both the graduale and offertorium were specified. The two latter were almost certainly the same two works that had been given earlier that year in a church music event directed by Krejčí and containing entirely his own new music. Mercy’s Anzeiger 3/11/1854 reported that the time of this event was to be 10am.

A brief review of this event was published by
Mercy’s Anzeiger 5/11/1854. The unsigned correspondent reported that ‘Yesterday, on 4th November in the afternoon, our Conservatory celebrated in the Dominican Church its Veni sancte in which, with the exception of a „Veni“ by the Count von Seyfried, were performed entirely compositions by the Choir director J. Krejčí. As the sterling quality of the works of our native church-composer has long been established, it only remains to be said that the performance under the direction of [Conservatory Director] Kittl was excellent.’
