Commentary:

News of this event was published by Tagesbote aus Böhmen 24/4/1854 in a report relating that the anticipated celebrations for the wedding of the Emperor Franz Joseph had been disturbed by bad weather. Two of the most notable events were reported to have taken place in the Protestant church and in the local synagogue. The latter was specially lit for the occasion. Dr Kampf gave a sermon and the performance of Psalms by choir and organ ‘raised the spirits of the congregation. Many notable persons of our city, such as the Vice-Governor [Vice-Statthalter] Mr Forgatsch, were present.’ Alms of 600 gulden were given to the poor to celebrate the day.

Tagesbote aus Böhmen 25/4/1854 reported that in all Prague churches celebrations took place yesterday for the wedding of Franz Joseph with performances of mass and the Te Deum. At many the source noted that there were also military parades.
