Commentary:

Tagesbote aus Böhmen 24/2/1854 reported that ‘In this year’s Lenten season will be in Jiránek’s Music Institute 6 musical soirées, namely on the 5th, 12th,19th, 26th March, then on 2nd and 8th April.’

Tagesbote aus Böhmen 7/4/1854 reported a selection of the works to be performed in the programme of the last of these events. The compositions noted were all works for orchestra, and as in soirées given in other years by Jiránek’s institute would have been performed in arrangements for piano, probably for multiple pianists.
