Commentary:

An advertisement, undersigned by ‘Pohl, entrepreneur’, was published by Tagesbote aus Böhmen 1/1/1854 announcing that on ‘Sunday 1st January 1854 will be in the Hall of Žofín Island under the leadership of Kapellmeister Swoboda [Svoboda] the Musical Trial to the Children’s and Society Ball [Kinder- und Gesellschaftsball] arranged for 25th January’. The event, which took place annually and was previously named ‘Kinderball’, was a charitable one, the proceeds from which were donated to a good cause for needy Prague children.
