• First Prague Civil Musical Ensemble [Prager Civilkapelle]: participating ensemble

Bohemia 3/10/1851 published news that ‘the directorate of the first Prague Civil Musical Ensemble arranges during the course of Mondays in October three subscription concerts, whose programmes promise to be very interesting.’ A numerous and select audience was expected to attend. The first of the concerts was noted to be taking place on Thursday 9th October. However, no further news of that performance by the ensemble appeared in Bohemia. On 17/10/1851 and 19/10/1851 the newspaper then published in its Tagesanzeiger texts a note for Saturday 18th October of a Musical Soirée being given in the Konvikt Hall. Whether this was part of the initially specified series of concerts cannot be ascertained. However, further performances by the ensemble took place more frequently than was originally published; the newspaper’s Tagesanzeiger texts recorded events on Thursday 23rd, 25th, 28th and 30th October.
