News of this event was published by Prager Zeitung 26/9/1850, which reported that on ‘Thursday 26th September Mr Theatre-director Hoffmann stages a great performance, of which all the profits are to be given to the benefit of the Czech fund for invalids. Following the [play] Schiller’s Wallenstein’s Lager and Hickel’s ‘Fest der Invaliden’ comes a performance of Kapellmeister Swoboda’s [Svoboda] great tone-painting Die Schlacht bei Novara und Mortara played by three musical bands (Artillery, Wimpfen and Wohlgemuth). A dance and fireworks provide the close [of the event]. No further details of the occasion were given.
The Tagesanzeiger texts of Bohemia 24/9/1850 and 26/9/1850 listed this event only as ‘Afternoon. 4pm in the Arena (German) [indicating the language of performance was German] “Wallenstein’s Lager.” For the benefit of the Invalid-fund [des Invalidenfondes].’
