Commentary:

The Dalibor 1/8/1859 report noted that these examinations were successful, and remarked that ‘we recommend this institute, especially to amateurs who intend to learn the violin or ’cello.’ Wiedemann’s institute was also thought by the Dalibor critic to provide excellent preparatory training for instrumentalists who wished to enter the Conservatory. Although the solo work performed by Radotínský was not identified either with respect to its composer or to the forces for which it was written, it seems certain that Radotínský played the violin given that he appeared in that rôle in the unspecified trio by Mozart.
