Prague Concert Life, 1850-1881

Event title:

Song-soirée given by the Styrian family of singers Remmele from Aussee in their national costume

Venue: Hopfenstock

Event type: Popular social musical and dance events

Date: 18/01/1859 7pm

Season: Carnival

Programme unspecified:

General participants:
  • Remmele family of Styrian folk musicians: participating ensemble, vv, zither and guitar accompaniment

Commentary:

Although this was stated by the Prager Morgenpost 18/1/1859 advertisement to be the farewell performance by the Remmeles prior to their departure from Prague, the ensemble remained in the city giving further concerts during the Carnival season. This performance was given, according to the Morgenpost text, to a guitar and zither accompaniment. The Remmele family evidently performed these instrumental parts, such an accompaniment being a feature of their performances on earlier occasions late in 1858.
