A public notice announcing this musical trial was published by Prager Morgenpost 26/12/1863. The source related, using a striking font and with the text surrounded by an ornate border: ‘The Musical Trial [Musikprobe] to the Society-Ball [Vereins-Ball] takes place on 26th December 4pm in the Hall of the Žofín Island.’

A brief review of this event was published by Prager Morgenpost 28/12/1863. The source reported: ‘The Musical Trial for the „Society-Ball“ [Die Musikprobe für den „Vereinsball“ took place as every year in the Hall of the Žofín Island on Boxing Day. The attendance of the Musical Trial was this time on a truly massive scale. Dance society expects much from the dance rhythms of the Imperial Kapellmeister Mr Strebinger, the able pupil of the late „Waltz-King Strauss“. High expectations were satisfied. Kapellmeister Strebinger introduced himself as composer with a light „Feenreigen-Walzer“ and quickly won everyone’s appreciation, the most applause being won equally for the for the „Vereinsball-Polka-Mazur“ and a „Champagner-Galop“, both compositions of Mr Strebinger one being encored twice, the other thrice. Some dances by Rudolf Count Spork gained not a little applause.
