Commentary:

News of this annual event – which always took place on St Cecilia’s Day – was published by Prager Morgenpost 20/11/1863. The report noted: ‘Veni sancte. The Music Teaching Institute of Josef Proksch celebrates a Veni sancte on St Cecilia’s Day [St. Cäcilien-Tage] (22nd Novbr.) 1863 at 9am in the Týn Church, at which the reverend committee member of this Institute, His Eminence the Rector and Canon Mr Mathias Heinrich, will give the High Mass. Being performed will be: „Vocal veni sancte“ by Horak [Horák], Mass Nr.4 by Brosig, Graduale („Vater unser“) for mixed chorus with obbligato organ, and Offertorium for 4 voices with obbligato organ and clarinets by J. Proksch.’ No further details were given of this event by the source.

The Tagesanzeiger daily almanac of Prague social and musical events published in Prager Morgenpost 22/11/1863 announced: ‘9am Veni sancte of Proksch’s Music Teaching Institute in the Týn Church.’
