Commentary:

News of this concert was first published by the Prague German-language newspaper Prager Morgenpost 18/11/1863. The report related: ‘Concerts. Next Sunday, 22nd November at 12 noon, will take place in the Konvikt Hall the Concert of the violin virtuoso Leopold Auer from Hungary, with the participation of Misses Czermak [Čermáková] and Zawiszanka, as well as of Mr Joh. Blaha. Due to an engagement, which the young artist has in a Gewandhaus concert in Leipzig on 26th November, it has been possible to arrange only this single concert [here].’ The source then went on to note that a benefit concert in aid of the Institute for Italian Orphans would be given by the ‘talented young pianist’ Eduard Gerstberger in Prague in December.

The Tagesanzeiger daily almanac of Prague social and musical events published by Prager Morgenpost 22/11/1863 noted this concert: ‘12 noon Concert of Mr Leopold Auer in the Žofín Island Hall.’ The newspaper published nothing more of this concert by Auer in any other issue.
