Commentary:

Prager Morgenpost 2/8/1863 published news of this series of three ‘Garden Festival’ [Gartenfest] entertainments to be given on Štvanice Island on 4th, 11th and 18th August. At each of the three occasions the report noted that there would be performing the two orchestras of the Regimental Ensemble of the worthy Royal Infantry Regiment of Count Gyulai under the personal direction of Kapellmeister Mr Strebinger.

An elaborate advertisement for this series of entertainments was also published by Prager Morgenpost 2/8/1863 and then repeated in the newspaper on 4/8/1863. The source noted in more detail the first event taking place on 4th August: ‘Island Great Venice [Štvanice] (formerly Hetz Island). Invitation to the 3 Tuesdays, that is the 4th, 11th and 18th August in the Garden and both Halls taking place Garden Festivals [Garten-Festen] and Dance-Garlands [Tanz-Kränzchen], at which the 2 orchestras of the Regimental Ensemble of the worthy Royal Infantry Regiment Count Gyulai under the personal direction of the Kapellmeister Mr Strebinger will be participating. Tuesday 4th Aug. the first Garden-Festival and Dance-Entertainment. Commencing 4 o’clock. Entry to the Garden 10kr. In both Halls 40kr.’ The advertisement concluded with a note that in the case of inclement weather the event would take place on the following day.
