A notice signed by the ‘Committee of musical section of the „Umělecká beseda“ [Artistic Circle]’ was published by Národní listy 29/3/1863: ‘(Posted) [The] first meeting of the musical section of the „Artistic circle“ takes place on Tuesday 31st March at 5 o’clock in rooms on Střelecký ostrov, to which members are invited. The subject for debate is the founding of a committee. Whosoever would wish to join the musical section can in this meeting or daily at the chairman of section Mr Bedř. Smetana (Řeznická ulice nr. 1385-II) in the morning from 9 to 1.’

Future meetings of the established musical section of the society organised its own practical events involving illustrated lectures, debates and also performances by members of their compositions and of other works.
