Commentary:

News, in a report signed ‘–m.’,  of this festival church service was published by Národní listy 25/1/1863 announcing: ‘To celebrate the birthday of Archduchess Žofíe 27th January will be celebrated a great Mass at 11 o’clock in the church of St Clement [sv. Kliment], and in it the chorus of the Žofín Academy will be performing a Vocal Mass by R. Führer, a graduale „Dej pokoj Hospodine“ and for the offertory a hymn „Leuchtend mild am Himmelsbogen“.’ No further details of this event were given by this source. Although not specified by the report, all three of these works may have been compose or arranged by, Führer. However, the Prague German-language newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 25/1/1857 published conflicting news that ‘The Žofín Academy arranges on Tuesday 27th January at 11am in the church of St Clement a festival Mass for the celebration of Her Serene Highness the Archduchess Sophie, in which are scheduled to be performed the new vocal Mass of J. Holub and as interpolations the Graduale Veni sancte spiritus of Sig. Kolleschowsky, as Offertorium Tu rex Gloria, [a] fugue by C.H. Graun.’ The venue, the participation of the Žofín Academy, and the date and time of the event being the same in both cases suggests either a confusion by one newspaper of the programme with that of another event, or that the programme was changed after one of the newspapers gained further information.
