Prager Morgenpost 28/2/1863 published a review of this event marking the anniversary of the official granting of the constitution of the Prague German Students Society. The source related: ‘The Drinking Festival [Festkommers] of the German Students. For the Festival marking the anniversary of the granting of their [the Society’s] constitution [Feier des Jahrestags der Verfassungsverleihung], yesterday evening in the Hall of  „Bohemia“ there was a Drinking Festival arranged by the student societys „Karolina“, „Austria“, „Teutonia“, „Albia“ and „Constantia“. The Hall was decorated with shields, beaters [Schlägern – ‘beaters’, possibly ceremonial maces] and flags. At the rear were busts of Their Majesties the Emperor and the Empress, in addition there was in the Hall the portrait of His Excellency the State minister Ritter von Schmerling. Attending the festival as guests were professors and doctors of the various faculties. Of University professors there were present the following gentlemen: Leonhardi, Dr Rochleder, Dr Pierre, Dr Stein, Dr Wessely [Veselý], Dr Löwe, Dr Masska [Mašek?], Dr Volkmann, Dr Wiess, as well as the Deacon of the College of Medicine, Dr Kraft.’ The report listed other dignitaries attending, namely Professor Brinz, Professor Herbst, Estates President [Landesgerichtspräsident] von Weidele, Baron Riese-Stallburg, Count Dessours-Walderode, Strache, von Stark, Karl von Limbeck, Dr Stöhr, Dr Klaudi, Dr Stradal, Karl Brosche, Fürst, Steffens, Neumann, Fürth, Director Kuh, Dr Teldesco, Dr Schmeykal, Leeder, Dr Ernst Mayer, Pfeiffer, Professor Schrott, Hardmuth, Grüner, Rosenhauer, Redlhammer, Dr Theumer, von Steerowitz, Lill con Lilienbach, Schindler, Dr Hanisch, Baron Bott. The report then went on to note that the Festival was opened with a toast to His Majesty the Emperor, which was received by those present with stormy calls of praise. The programme of drinking songs commenced ‘with the old „Gaudeamus igitur“.’ No further details of the musical content of the occasion were noted. Numerous toasts were drunk to individuals ranging from His Excellency the State Minister [presumably either for Prague or responsible for education and overseeing the University], to Professors Brinz and Herbst and to the University itself and to the Polytechnic. The event ended in the early hours of the following morning.
