Commentary:

An advertisement for this event was published by Prager Morgenpost 8/2/1863, announcing: ‘„Hotel de Saxe.“ Today Friday [this should have read Sunday], under the personal direction of the Kapellmeister, Komzak’s large [Salon] Orchestra. At 9 o’clock great Potpourri.’ No further details of this event were given by the source. The composer of the Potpourri was unspecified but may have been Komzák.

The incorrect day specified in the advertisement as ‘today’ may have constituted a simple oversight on the part of the publisher given that this text was being published twice weekly throughout the Carnival season. However, the issue of the newspaper also included an advertisement for another appearance bz Komzák’s orchestra on this day (8/2/1863) in the Bohemia Restaurant at 4.30. The possibility therefore exists that the publishing of the original source for the Hotel de Saxe was in error.
