The Tagesprogramm almanac of daily social events published by Bohemia 4/2/1863 noted: ‘Evening in the Žofín Island Hall: Ball of the Civil Grenadiers Corps.’ Národní listy 4/2/1863 reported in its section of daily news: ‘Ball of Civil Grenadiers Corps takes place this evening at 7.30pm in Žofín Hall.’
A review of this event, signed ‘-0-’, was published by Prager Morgenpost 8/2/1863. The critic reported: ‘Ball. The Ball, which the Civil Guard Grenadiers Corps arranged in the Žofín Island Hall, was very pretty [fiel sehr hübsch aus]. The great Dance Hall was decorated in white and embellished with the busts of Their Majesties the Emperor and the Empress. The colour blue had been tastefully chosed to adorn the small Hall, the statues of Austria and Bohemia were fittingly displayed with their banners and arms. Among the many dancers the Grenadiers Corps were numerously represented. His Excellency the Governor Vice-President [Statthaltereivizepräsident] Baron Kellersperg, His Excellency the Estates Commander Cavalry General Count Clam-Gallas, the Deputy Colonel-Estates-Marshall [Oberstlandmarschalls-Stellvertreter] Dr Wanka were among the guests.
