An advertisement was published by Prager Morgenpost 9/1/1863 announcing: ‘The Music-Rehearsal [Musik-Probe] for the Ball for the Benefit of the poor inhabitants of the Oře and Krkonoše Mountains [im Erz- und Riesengebirge], which will be arranged by the German Casino [Deutsche Kasino] on 28th January 1863, takes place on Sunday, 11th January 1863, 4pm in the Hall of the Žofín Island. Admission 20 Austrian kr. The Committee [of the Deutsche Casino].’ The advertisement was published again in the newspaper on 10/1/1863 and 11/1/1863. A similar advertisement offering the same details appeared in the newspaper Bohemia 11/1/1863.

Prager Morgenpost 10/1/1863 reported ‘Ball of the German Casino [Ball des deutschen Casino. Next Sunday at 4pm takes place in the Žofín Island Hall the musical rehearsal to the Ball that the German Casino is arranging for the benefit of inhabitants of the Oře and Krkonoše Mountains.’

A review, signed ‘=’, was published by Prager Morgenpost 12/1/1863. The correspondent reported: ‘When it is possible to write a report about the musical rehearsal to a Ball, so we are able to pen a very favourable prognosis of the Ball that was arranged by the Deutsche Casino for the benefit of the poor inhabitants of the Oře and Krkonoše Mountains. A very numerous and refined public filled all of the space of the Žofín Island Hall wherein a military music ensemble performed dance pieces. The greatest applause received the Kasino-Ball-Tänze Waltz by Karl Binder, Marien-Polka by Strebinger, Flug-Polka by Strebinger, Herzklopferl-Polka by Karl Binder, Krinolin-Quadrille (on themes from the „Karnevals-Abenteuren von Paris“) by Strebinger, Rosenblätter-Walzer by Strebinger, „Glöckchen des Eremiten“ Quadrille by Strauss. The heart of many-a-beautiful maiden throbbed impetuously at these inviting sounds of music in full expectation of the delightfulness of the Casino Ball, and many-a-fair foot tapped impatiently the beat on the floor. The material success of the Ball will be splendid for the poor inhabitants of the Oře and Krkonoše Mountains, in that a very substantial sum is assured.’ No further details of the event were given by this source, which obviously included further works in the programme. The director of the ensemble may well have been Strebinger given the large number of compositions by him given on this occasion.

The Feuilleton of Prager Morgenpost 13/1/1863 featured comment upon various social aspects of the forthcoming Carnival season, including what was perceived to be the successful and important event arranged by the Deutsche Casino on 11/1/1863.

Prager Morgenpost 14/1/1863 reported that this ‘Musikprobe’ earned a profit of 200fl for the benefit cause. This source also noted that already 4000fl had been subscribed for the forthcoming benefit Ball organised by the Deutsche Casino.
