Jenny Brennerová

Brenner, Johanna (?-1878). Hungarian singer. Coloratura soprano at the German Estates Theatre, in the 1860s also at the Czech Provisional Theatre. Tagesbote aus Böhmen 14/4/1857 reported that she had received from ‘several theatres in Germany very flattering requests for guest performances, but until now the singer has not yet decided definitively for any one of the applications.’ This same newspaper reported on 1/6/1857 that ‘Miss Jenny Brenner, the former darling of our public, has been engaged on very advantageous terms as first coloratura singer at the Stadttheater in Leipzig following a very successful guest appearance there.’

In June 1863 she appeared as a guest singer in Stuttgart, Prager Morgenpost 22/6/1863 reporting that she sang there on 19/6/1863, and that the local newspaper praised her ‘coloratura and incredible virtuosity’. A few days later, Prager Morgenpost 2/7/1863 referred again to her ‘brilliant success’ in Stuttgart and that following her performance in Dinorah received from the King [of Prussia?] a splendid armband [ein prachtvolles Armband].’
