Joachim Raff

Raff, Joachim (1822-1882). Swiss composer, pianist and teacher. Largely self taught as both pianist and composer. The first half of his career was spent working in Weimar as a helper to Liszt. Later in life he gained enormous, though transient, popularity as a composer. His output was prolific, touching upon most genres.
