Franz Paul Lachner

Lachner, Franz Paul (1803-1890). German conductor and composer. Appointed assistant conductor of the Kärntnertor Theater in 1826 and assumed the principle directorship a year later. Following a two-year period conducting opera in Mannheim (1834-1836), he moved to Munich where he became court music director. Extensive output of works covering most major genres of the period.
