Winter, Peter (1754-1825). German composer, born in Mannheim and a child violin prodigy, playing in the local court orchestra. He moved to Munich in 1778, working at the court theatre there for the rest of his life. Compositional output includes over thirty opera, concerti and a large body of sacred music.
