Hickel, Johann Carl (1811-1855). Czech poet and writer. Founded in Prague German literature periodical Der Salon and later the political paper Der Volksfreund. His own political views made his personal career in Prague difficult and in 1852 he moved to Vienna where he became Dramaturg of the Josefstheater.
