Heinrich

Herz, Henri (1806-1888). Austrian pianist and composer. Studied pianoforte at the Paris Conservatoire from 1816 and subsequently settled in the city. Appointed Professor of Pianoforte there in 1842. Toured  the U.S.A. , Mexico and the West Indies in 1845-1851. Returned to Europe and opened a factory for piano construction. Active and influential as a pedagogue. As a composer composed numerous salon pieces for the piano, as well as 8 concerti.
