Clara Josephine née Wieck

Schumann, Clara (1819-1896). German pianist and composer. Daughter of the pianist and piano teacher Friedrick Wieck. Displayed considerable talent for the piano in childhood. In the years following the death of her husband Robert Schumann (1856) she undertook frequent concert tours,  which included appearances in Prague. In 1863 she settled in Baden-Baden, and in 1878 became Professor of Piano at the Hoch Conservatoire in Frankfurt.
