Václav Josef Rosenkranc

Rosenkranz Wenzel Joseph

Rosenkranc, Václav Josef (1797-1861). Composer and organist. Most of his career was passed in the provinces, although in the second half of the 1850s he moved to Prague, eventually becoming organist at the church of St Thomas. As a composer his most important works were his forays into Czech songs and choruses, notably pioneering more complex vernacular art songs during the 1830s , examples of which were published in the serial song publication Věnec.
