Charles Wehle
Wehle, Charles (1825-1883). Czech pianist and composer. Pupil of Josef Proksch and I. Tedesca, and later of Moscheles and Kullak. His pianist career began at 17 when he undertook his first European tour. In later life he performed in Ceylon, the Antipodes (Dalibor 1/3/1863 noting he was about to embark from Paris upon a journey to Australia), and in America. His compositions almost exclusively comprise salon works for the piano cast in a brilliant and virtuoso vein.
