Schmidt, ? Dr. Bass singer, appearing in Prague in 1857. Tagesbote aus Böhmen 3/12/1857 reported that ‘The Bass [singer] Dr Schmidt, known to the Prague Theatre-going public from earlier this year, we hear received a telegraphic despatch from Mr Czabon, engaging him to the Royal Court Theatre [Hofoperntheater] for 10 years at a salary of 8000 gulden per annum.’
