Heinrich August Neithardt

Neithardt, Heinrich August (1793-1861). German composer and conductor. His early career was as a soldier, and after his military service he continued in such circles as an able and popular military music director. In 1839 he obtained a post as conductor at the Cathedral in Berlin, the choir of which he developed into a particular effective ensemble. Compositions include much military and church music, as well as chamber works, piano music and even an opera.
