William Sterndale Bennett
Bennett, William Sterndale (1816-1875). English pianist, teacher and composer. Chorister of King’s College, Cambridge, and pupil of the Royal Academy of Music in London. Later studied composition in Leipzig before returning to Britain to work predominantly as a teacher and musical organizer, but particularly during his early career was also active as a composer. Professor of Music at Cambridge (1856-1875).
