The date of the second of the annual dance-reunions given by the Měšťanská beseda [Bürgerresource] was noted at the end of the review by Mercy’s Anzeiger 15/1/1857 of the first of these events that was held on 12th January. The participating ensemble at these occasions was reported by Mercy’s Anzeiger 9/1/1857 to be the Salon Orchestra of Komzák. An advertisment for the second reunion was published by Mercy’s Anzeiger 18/1/1857 noting the date and venue.
A brief review of this event was published by Mercy’s Anzeiger 21/1/1857. This noted that ‘The Dance-reunion that took place the day before yesterday in the rooms of the Civic Society [Bürgerresource] was one of the most glittering. The arrangement of the Hall was very pleasant. The ladies were met at the entrance and were given a Ländler by the society member Mr K. Binder based on Czech folksongs. The very animated festival, which continued into the morning, enjoyed a very numerous attendance. The Mayor Dr Vanka was present. The third Reunion takes place on 16th February.’ No further details were given by this source. The Ländler by Binder was almost certainly included in the compositions performed that evening.
