The Prague German-language daily newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 25/11/1857 reported that the Prague public were expecting to hear Hungarian folk music ‘that Hungarian gypsies ony get to hear’, being performed by the musical ensemble of the Royal Infantry Regiment of Archduke Ernst. The report proceeded to note that same ensemble had been allowed to perform such music in national costume, in the apartments of His Majesty the Emperor Ferdinand.’ No further details were given by the source. However, the following report in the same issue of this newspaper offered information about a forthcoming concert to be given by the ensemble in the Žofín Island Hall on 28/11/1857. The programme was noted to include various items of Hungarian and Gypsy flavour.
