Kommentar:

News of the forthcoming events to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of the German poet, were published by Prager Morgenpost 5/11/1863. This noted that over three days the Estates Theatre was performing plays including Wallensteins Lager and Shakespeare’s Komödie der Irrungen [5/11/1863], then on further days Schiller’s Die beiden Piccolomini then Wallenstein’s Tod. In addition the source reported that ‘Also the Singing Society „Arion“  gives on the evening of 8th November a Schiller Festival [Schillerfeier].’

Further information of this event was announced by the Committee of Arion in a public notice appearing in Prager Morgenpost 6/11/1863. This made quite clear that the occasion was not a public one and open only to members of Arion and to those who had been given admission tickets by the Committee: ‘„Arion.“ Sunday 8th November 7pm „Music Evening“ [Musik-Abend] (Schiller Festival.) Entry for non-members is only through admission tickets given by the Committee.’ The event was noted in the Tagesanzeiger almanac of daily events published by Prager Morgenpost 8/11/1863: ‘Schiller festival of the Society
„Arion“ in Brisker’s Salon.’
