Season: Carnival
The programme is reproduced in performance order according to the unsigned Dalibor 20/2/1862 review. According to Dalibor 1/2/1862 the soirée was to have included Pavel Křížkovský’s song Výprask [Thrashing] and a new chorus by Ludevít Procházka entitled Naše země [Our country]. However, neither of these works was recorded by the specified periodical reviews.
The Dalibor 20/2/1862 review commented that Hlahol’s performance was ‘praiseworthy, although[...] we expected greater perfection of execution. The pieces in which Mr Lukes sang principal tenor were all excellently performed with the most exquisite nuances. Youthful ardour, energy and patriotic self-consciousness palpably blazed in all the choruses; however too much fire sometimes drew individual singers into error, as we observed in Zvonař’s chorus Žárlivý basař [The jealous warder]. All the choruses, partsongs and solos gained great approbation from the numerous audience.’ The solo vocalists in the partsongs were J.L. Lukes, Fr. Pivoda, Korbelář and Hozák.
