Commentary:

A report appeared in the Daily News section of Mercy’s Anzeiger’s 28/3/1857 relating that ‘On Sunday afternoon a Concert-Soirée will be given in the Hall of Žofín Island, at which the music band of the Infantry of Baron Wernhard [von Wernhardt] under the leadership of its celebrated Kapellmeister Mr Jeschko [Ješko] will perform favourite music.’ The same issue of the newspaper published an advertisment announcing: ‘Sunday 29th March there takes place in the Hall of Žofín Island in the evening at 6 o’clock a Concert-Soirée, in which the Music-band of the esteemed Royal 16th Infantry Regiment of Baron Wernhadt under the personal direction of its Kapellmeister L. Jeschko will perform with an augmented orchestra amongst other favourite pieces the great “kriegerische Jubel-Ouverture” by Lindpaintner.’ This advertisement was published again by Mercy’s Anzeiger on 29/3/1857. The Vergnügungsanzeiger of Mercy’s Anzeiger 29/3/1857 reported ‘Today Sunday:... Žofín Island Hall: Music-soirée.’ No further details were given by these sources.
