Commentary:

The Vergnügungsanzeiger of Mercy’s Anzeiger 28/2/1857 reported ‘Today Saturday... Lederer’s Beer Hall: Orchestral music.’ An advertisment was also published in the same issue of this newspaper. This announced: ‘Briefly!! Where can there be good entertainment today. In Lederer’s Beer Hall (Corner of Tuchmachergasse nr.1186-2), the universally popular Music-Orchestra under the leadership of Mr Wallisch will be heard [performing] the most refined compositions, as an Obituary on the Carnevel [Nachruf an den Carneval]. Also available is a good selection of Jinonitz beers. Commencing 5 o'clock.’

The orchestra of Walesch was a privately formed ensemble.
