Prager Morgenpost 1/1/1863 reported of this event: ‘Ball. The dance master Mr Gorski [Górski] during the coming Carnival arranges a Ball, which will take place on 27th January in the Žofín Island Hall. The musical trial for the same takes place on 4th January at 4pm.’ No further details were given by this source. The event was evidently of substance given the note that a trial of the music was to be given on 4/1/1863.
A pre-event report and review appearing respectively in the newspapers Bohemia 27/1/1863 and Prager Morgenpost 3/2/1863 record that on 27/1/1863 one of the major annual balls of the Prague Carnival season – the Typographers’ Ball – took place in the Žofín Island Hall at 8pm. Possibly this was synonymous with the event by Górski.
